Citation: Boominathan, Molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis: Neurotensin increases the expression of oncogenic protein MDM2, a negative regulator of tumor suppressor p53, via up regulation of its target gene, 15/February/2015, 22.34, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests that Neurotensin, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of MDM2. Thereby, it may promote the degradation of tumor suppressor p53 and initiate tumorigenesis. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Neurotensin inhibitors“ may be used to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells.
