Significance: PTEN is the second most mutated gene in human cancer. This study suggests, for the first time, that miR-29c, by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of PTEN. Thereby, it may promote tumor suppression. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing ” miR-29c or its activators” may be used to inhibit the progression of tumors.
