Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that USP22, by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it may promote the activity of tumor suppressor PDCD4. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “USP22  activators”  may be used to inhibit the progression of tumors.

Undisclosed information: How USP22 increases the expression of PDCD4.
