Significance: It has recently been shown that Lin-28 promotes insulin sensitivity. This study suggests that 17α-E2 (an estrogen derivative), by suppressing thee expression of its target gene, it may up regulate the expression of Lin-28. Thus,  pharmacological formulations encompassing ” 17α-E2 or its analogues may be used to treat DM.
