Significance: The study presented here suggests that Ago2, by decreasing the expression of its target genes, it may increase the expression of Aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2). Thereby, it may inhibit Myocardial ischemia. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Ago2 activators” may be used to inhibit myocardial ischemia following myocardial infarction.
