Significance:
This suggests, for the first time, that Echinacea purpurea root extract, by increasing the expression of its target gene ABCA1, it may increase the level of High-Density lipoproteins. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Echinacea purpurea root extract or small molecule compounds isolated from it“ may be used to treat disorders associated with lipid metabolism.
