Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that TanshinoneIIA may extend the lifespan of an individual by suppressing the expression of ADCY5/AC5. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “TanshinoneIIA or its analogues” may be used to extend the life-span of an an individual.
