Significance: It has been shown earlier that angiotensin II type I receptor (AT1R) antagonist prolongs mammalian life span. This study suggests, for the first time, that Taurine, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may suppress the expression of AT1R. And, thereby, it may (1) decrease blood pressure; (2) decrease blood sugar levels; (3) decrease ageing; and (4) extend the lifespan of an individual. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Taurine or its analogues” may be used to extend the life-span of an individual.
