Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that Ursolic acid, by increasing the expression of its target gene, may decrease the expression of lipogenic genes. Thereby, it may prevent ectopic lipid accumulation in muscle progenitor cells and mature muscles. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Ursolic acid or its analogues“ may be used to decrease muscle lipid levels.
