Citation: Boominathan, Natural product-based thearpy for cancer: Garlic suppresses the expression of oncoprotein Mcl-1 and increases the expression of proapoptotic protein BIM via down regulation of its target gene, 13/February/2015, 22.42, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests that Garlic, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of Mcl-1 and increase the expression of proapoptotic protein BIM. Thereby, it may inhibit the progression of drug resistant cancer cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Garlic or small molecule compounds isolated from Garlic” can be used to inhibit the progression of human tumors, including Melanoma.
