Significance: This study suggests a natural product-based therapy for stress-related disorders. Delphinidin-3-glucoside (DP), by increasing the expression of its target gene, it could decrease the expression of stress-responsive gene product p53. By suppressing the expression of p53, one could alleviate disease symptoms-associated with a number stress-related disorders, including T2DM, vascular diseases, cardiac diseases, and dementia. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “p53 inhibitors“ can be used to treat patients suffering from stress-related disorders.
