Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that Icariin, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may inhibit the inflammasome activation pathway. Thereby, it may decrease renal inflammation. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Icariin or its analogues” may be used to treat renal inflammatory disease.
