Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that Oleic acid may increase insulin cell mass and function. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Oleic acid” may be used to increase insulin secretion and sensitivity; and (2) decrease metabolic symptoms associated with DM.
