Citation: Boominathan, Natural product-based therapy for human cancer: Epigallo-3-galectin (EGCG), the major component of Green tea, increases the expression of tumor suppressor PTEN via down regulation of its target gene, 23/July/2014, 4.44 am, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: PTEN is the second most mutated gene in human cancer. EGCG, by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it could induce the expression of PTEN. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Epigallo-3-galectin or its analoguges” can be used to treat PTEN-mutated human cancers.
