Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that Curcumin, by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP). Thereby, it may inhibit blood pressure. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Curcumin or its analogues” may be used to treat disorders of salt overload, including hypertension.
