Significance: It has been shown that accumulation of excessive renal reactive oxygen species (ROS) raises blood pressure. This study suggests, for the first time, Fangchinoline, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the levels of ROS. Thereby, it may function as an antihypertensive agent. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Fangchinoline or its analogues” can be used to treat hypertension.
