The study presented here suggests that Amla extract, by increasing the expression of its target genes, it may: (i) inhibit WNT-SOX9 oncogenic pathway; (ii) decrease oncogenic β-catenin protein levels; (iii) decrease H. pylori-induced gastric cancer cell proliferation; (iv) inhibit acquisition of tumor-initiating stem-cell properties; and (v) decrease chemoresistance.

Thereby, it may inhibit proliferation of H.Pylori-induced gastric cancer cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Amla extract or an active compound isolated from it or Amla extract in combination with any other anticancer drugs” may be used to inhibit cancer progression (Fig. 1).
