Significance:   This study suggests, for the first time, that  ΔNp63αby decreasing the expression of its target gene, it increases insulin-secreting cell mass and function. Thereby, it may increase the insulin sensitivity of cellular tissues.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “ΔNp63α or its activators”  can be used to treat DM.
