Citation: Boominathan, Regenerative therapy for DM: MiRNA-146a increases insulin-secreting cell mass and function via down regulation of its target genes, 28/April/2015, 22.48, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-146a, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase insulin-secreting cell mass and function. Thereby, it may increase the insulin sensitivity of cellular tissues. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-146a activators” can be used to treat DM.
