Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that NUR77, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of tumor suppressor PTEN. Thereby, it may increase (1) insulin-secreting cell mass and function; and (2) insulin sensitivity of cellular tissues.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “NUR77 activators”  can be used to treat DM.

Undisclosed information: How NUR77  decreases the expression of PTEN.
