A study from the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research, Children’s National Medical Center, Washington, DC 20010, USA; and others shows that An mTORC1-Mdm2-Drosha Axis for miRNA Biogenesis in Response to Glucose- and Amino Acid-Deprivation.” This study was published in the Jan 28, 2015 issue of Molecular Cell by Prof. Zheng P, Dr. Ye P and others.

On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMDreports here that: Regulation of miRNA biogenesis: Neurotensin suppresses the expression of Drosha, a component of miRNA processing machinery, via up regulation of its target gene. This study suggests that Neurotensin,  by up regulating its target gene, it may inhibit the expression of Drosha.  Thereby, it may function as a negative regulator of miRNA processing.
