A recent study from the Institute of Healthy Ageing, Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, Department of Medicine, University College London, London WC1E 6JJ, UK shows that “Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 signaling regulates mammalian life span.” This study was published in the 2 October 2009 issue of the Journal “Science” (I.F: 31.477 ) by Prof Dominic J. Withers, Dr. Selman C and others.
On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan PhD, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports that: Shear therapy for Lifespan extension: Shear force inhibits the expression of Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase) via up regulation of its target gene, 30/January/2015, 10.25 am

Significance: It has been shown that shear therapy promotes blood circulation and aids pain therapy. However, the mechanistic basis of which largely remains elusive. This study suggests, for the first time, that sheer force, by upregulating the expression of its target gene, it may inhibit the expression of Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase). Thereby, it may promote (1) resistance to bone, immune, and motor dysfunction; (2) insulin sensitivity; and (3) brain health. Together, this study provides molecular mechanistic insights into how shear therapy may aid one to extend his/her life span. Thus, Physicians may consider recommending shear therapy to the needy patients.
Undisclosed information: How shear therapy inhibits the expression of Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase)
