Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that NUR77, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of metabolite hormone FGF21. Thereby, it may increase energy expenditure and extend the lifespan of an individual. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “NUR77 activators“ may be used to extend the life-span of an individual.
