On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan PhD, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports that: Small RNAs not only cure T2DM but also extend lifespan: MiRNA-335 increases UCP protein expression, energy expenditure, glucose tolerance, insulin sensitivity and extends lifespan via down regulation of its target gene.

Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-335, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease diet-induced obesity, increase UCP protein expression, energy expenditure, cold tolerance, glucose tolerance, insulin sensitivity and extend lifespan.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing MiRNA-335 or its activators” may be used to treat T2DM, promote lean mass, increase cold exposure tolerance and extend the life span of an individual.

Undisclosed information: How MiRNA-335 increases UCP protein expression, energy expenditure, glucose tolerance, insulin sensitivity and promotes longer lifespan
