Significance: A number of studies suggest that Metformin, the widely used drug in the treatment of T2DM, increases lifespan of mammals. This study suggests, for the first time, that Acarbose may extend the lifespan of an individual by suppressing the expression of ADCY5/AC5. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Acarbose or its analogues“ may be used to extend the life-span of an individual.
Undisclosed information: How Acarbose suppresses the expression of adenylate cyclase 5 (ADCY5)
