Dr Boominathan had shown earlier that TAp73 stabilizes the protooncogene c-Jun, but the mechanism remained elusive (http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/15006 ). Nearly after a decade, GBMD Chief-Scientist Dr Boominathan Ph.D. identifies the mechanism through which TAp73 stabilizes c-Jun. His results reveal that p73 increases the stability of Jun by turning on its target miRNA. This, in turn, suppresses the expression of a protein that targets c-Jun for degradation.
