GBMD Director-cum-Chief-Scientist Dr L Boominathan PhD reports that miR-99 (which is part of the miR-100 cluster) may increase the lifespan of an individual. Furthermore, Dr Boominathan identifies the mechanism through which miR-99 increases the lifespan of an individual. This study suggests that “miR-99 activators” may increase one’s longevity.
The average life span of an individual in certain parts of the world varies from 80 to 85 years. Dr Boominathan envisions that miR-99 activators may increase the life span of an individual by 20%. If this supposition turns out to be true, then the average life span of an individual may increase from 80 to 100 years.
Thus, Dr L Boominathan believes that miR-99 acts as the “longevity promoter.”
