Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that neem oil, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of longevity-promoting gene product Sirtuin-1. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing ” neem oil” may be used to (1) increase insulin sensitivity; (2) decrease metabolic syndrome; (3) decrease ageing process; and (4) increase the life expectancy of an individual.
