Significance: This study suggests that 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D(3) increases the expression of immortality gene telomerase. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D(3)  or its analogues” may be used to (1) deaccelerate ageing process; and (2) increase the lifespan of an individual.
