Significance: This study suggests that GATA6, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of a number of extracellular matrix genes. Thereby, it may inhibit the progression of pulmonary fibrosis. Thus, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations encompassing “GATA6 or its activators“ may be used to inhibit the progression of fibrotic diseases.
