Significance: I have published earlier stating that (6)-gingerol (6G) promotes reprogramming of adult pancreatic ductal cells into α, δ, and β cells via up regulation of Ngn3. This study suggests that 6)-gingerol may increase insulin sensitivity via up regulation of stem cell and reprogramming protein Lin-28. Taken together, pharmacological formulations encompassing “6-Gingerol (6G) or its analogues” may be used to regenerate insulin-secreting cells, and increase insulin sensitivity; and, thereby, cure DM.
