CitationBoominathan, Treating cancer with a known T2DM drug: Acarbose  suppresses the expression of RNA polymerase I via down regulation of its target gene, 25/February/2015, 5.51 am, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org

Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that Acarbose, by increasing the expression of  its target gene, it may decrease the expression of RNA polymerase I. Thereby, it may inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Acarbose or its analogues”  can be used to inhibit the progression of human cancers.
