Significance: This study suggests that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, by up regulating the expression of its target gene, it may inhibit self-renewal of mammary cancer stem cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D“ may be used to inhibit the proliferation of mammary cancer stem cells.
