Significance: This study suggests that 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D(3), by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it may up regulate the expression of a gene that is required to inhibit asthma pathogenesis. Together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations encompassing “1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D(3) or its analogues” may be used to treat patients suffering from severe asthma.
