Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may suppress the expression Sema4c, epithelial-mesenchymal transition and chemotherapeutic resistance.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D or its analogues”  may be used to inhibit the progression of human tumors.
