Significance:  This study suggests, for the first time, that Vitamin-A, by increasing the expression of its target genes, it may increase respiration and mitochondrial gene expression. Thereby, it may increase  the lifespan of an individual. Together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations encompassing “Vitamin-A or its activators or analogues” may function as longevity promoters.
