Citation: Boominathan, Vitamin-based therapy for Acute Myeloid Leukeima (AML): ATRA suppresses the expression of 5-Lipoxygenase (5-LO) and inhibits cancer stem cell proliferation via up regulation of its target gene, 23/January/20145, 22.15, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that ATRA, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may suppress the expression of 5-Lipoxygenase (5-LO) and inhibit cancer stem cell proliferation. Thereby, it may prevent AML relapse after remission. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing ” ATRA or its analogues” can be used to inhibit the progression and relapse of acute myeloid leukemia after remission.
