Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that ATRA, by increasing the expression of its target geneit may suppress the expression of 5-Lipoxygenase (5-LO) and inhibit cancer stem cell proliferation. Thereby, it may prevent AML relapse after remission. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing ATRA or its analogues”  can be used to inhibit the progression and relapse of acute myeloid leukemia after remission.
