Significance:   This study suggests, for the first time, that  MIRNA-492, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase insulin-secreting cell mass and function. Thereby, it may increase the insulin sensitivity of cellular tissues.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing MIRNA-492 or its activator”  may be used to treat DM.
