Significance:  It has been shown that decreasing the expression of Tau protein alleviates the pathogenic symptoms-associated with Alzheimer’s disease. This study suggests, for the first time, that ARF decreases the expression of Tau protein. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “ARF activators” can be used to treat patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and tauopathies.
