Cox, Park BV and others.

What is known?
It has recently been shown that blocking PD-1 with antibodies one could make tumors shrink. This work, relating to Cancer immunotherapy, has been chosen as Science’s breakthrough of the year recently.
From Research Findings to Therapeutic opportunity:
This suggests that UBTD1, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may suppress the expression of PD-1. Thereby, it may (1) increase the production of cytokines by tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL), and draining lymph nodes; (2) augment antitumor activity of the immune system; & (3) inhibit metastatic cancer progression.

Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “UBTD1 activators” may be used to inhibit the progression of tumors.
