A study from the Department of Pharmacology, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas 75390, USA has reported that “miR-34a blocks osteoporosis and bone metastasis by inhibiting osteoclastogenesis and Tgif2.”
This study was published in the June 25, 2014 Nature [I.F >42] by Prof. Wan Y, Krzeszinski and others from the Department of Pharmacology, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas 75390, USA.
On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports here that: Vitamin therapy for Bone disorders: Delta-tocotrienol, the Vitamin-E, inhibits osteoporosis and bone metastasis via up regulation of its target gene.
This study may suggest that Delta-tocotrienol, by up regulating its target gene, it may suppress the expression of Tgif2. Together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations encompassing “Delta-tocotrienol or its analogues” can be used to inhibit osteoporosis and bone metastasis.
