What they say?

A study from the Institute of Healthy Ageing, Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, Department of Medicine, University College London, London WC1E 6JJ, UK shows that “Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 signaling regulates mammalian life span.” This study was published in the 2 October 2009 issue of the Journal “Science” (I.F: 31.477 ) by Prof Dominic J. Withers, Dr. Selman C and others.

What we say

On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan PhD, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMDreports, for the first time, that: Small RNA-based Life-extension therapy: MiR-15/16  inhibits the expression of Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase) and extends mammalian life span

What is known?

I had published earlier stating that: Small RNAs as Lifespan extenders: MiRNA-15a extends life-span by down regulating the expression of Growth hormone receptor, 26/May/2015, 23.01 (https://genomediscovery.org/33151/?preview_id=44963&preview_nonce=2e37ae7e46&post_format=standard&_thumbnail_id=-1&preview=true)

Research findings to Therapeutic opportunity:

This study suggests a natural product-based life extension therapy. MiR-15/16, by suppressing the expression of Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase) and Growth hormone receptor, it may promote: (1) resistance to bone, immune, and motor dysfunction; (2) insulin sensitivity; and (3) longevity.

Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing MiR-15/16 or its activators can be used to extend the lifespan of an individual.
