Citation: Boominathan, MiRNA-based therapy for Age-associated dementia and Alzheimer’s disease (AD): MiRNA-638 increases the expression of AGE receptor 1 (AGER1), the longevity-promoting gene Sirtuin-1 and decreases advanced glycation end products (AGEs) via down regulation of its target gene, 11/June/2015, 10.48 pm, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-638, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may: (1) increase the expression of AGE receptor 1 (AGER1); (2) increase the expression of longevity-promoting gene Sirtuin-1; and (3) decrease advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-638 activators” can be used to decrease ageing and increase the life-span of an individual.
