Idea Proposed/Formulated by: Dr L Boominathan Ph.D.
Citation: Boominathan, Therapeutic insight into the treatment of Age-related Cataract: 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D promotes the surivival of lens epithelial cells via up regulation of its target gene, 23/October/2014, 14.17, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of a number of tumor suppressor proteins. Thereby, it may promote the survival of lens epithelial cells and prevent age-related cataract. Therefore, pharmacological formulations encompassing “1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D or its analogues“ may be used to treat Cataract.
